Swamped with your writing assignments? Take the weight off your shoulder!
You have now read the book Waterlily by Ella Deloria. We could have read perhaps dry and boring articles that discussed and focused on more traditional relationships of one group of Native people. Instead, I chose to have you read a novel, written by a Dakota (Sioux) scholar about a group of Dakota people at around the time of earlier contact. The novel was written in the earlier half of the 20th century, yet wasn’t published until years later. The prompt will be broad in focus and it is up to you to select the way by which you wish to address the topic. Your prompt for your two page, double spaced, about 12 font paper that is Chicago Style endnoted NOT footnote and NOT intext citations. Please see video on format that will be posted by July 18th.
In what ways did kinship affect the life of Waterlily and/or others in the novel? How does your example tie a community together and work toward the least friction and the greater amount of good will?
Please utilize both “Waterlily” and the video posted “Clementine Bordeaux on Ella Deloria”
The best to all
