Getting Started
The fourth and final part of the research plan consists of selecting a sample of people to interview or the parts of the program to observe. In research for program evaluation, it is usually not practical or feasible to research the entire population and so researchers study a sample of the population. So, you should select a sampling method that you will use to select your participants. Specifically, you need to select a probability (simple, systematic, stratified, or cluster) or non-probability (convenience, purposive, quota, or snowball) sampling method. After selecting your sampling method, you should identify your sampling plan. Your sampling plan is like a recipe, as it is a detailed explanation that walks the reader through exactly how you picked your sample and implemented it.
Upon successful completion of this discussion, you will be able to:
Design and support a research plan for clinical practice (PLO 13)
Analyze quantitative and qualitative research methods and findings (PLO 13)
Suggest implications for practice based on research findings (PO 13; ILO 5)
