Research paper so your annotated bibliography will focus on the topic that you choose for these assignments.

Based on your own independent research, you will put together a bibliography of at least
five academic sources (ie. journal articles, book chapters, books, essays from an exhibition
catalogue), and annotate them. You are working toward writing your conference paper and
research paper so your annotated bibliography will focus on the topic that you choose for
these assignments. To ‘annotate’ means to provide a short summary of the text. After
finding your academic source, you will carefully read it, write out the citation using the
Chicago Manual of Style format, and then write your annotation. Your annotations should
be clearly written, concise, summarize the main points of the text, and clearly outline the
author’s argument. Please follow the Chicago Manual of Style for your citations

Choose a topic that is within your interests (scad major?) and which you want to learn more about through research and discussion.

Directions:
In writing a college research paper, you will need to go beyond merely gathering and organizing information about your topic. You will need to have a point to argue or prove. Choose a topic that is within your interests (SCAD major?) and which you want to learn more about through research and discussion.
Keep the topic as narrow as possible so that you can delve deeply into your subject and not just merely summarize available information. Remember, the objective of the paper is to research a theme or issue in greater depth so as to gain a deeper appreciation for the topic. Choose a topic which allows your own creative input or interpretation.
This statement will guide your research for the final paper. It should focus on a specific aspect of an artist/designer’s work of art/design (NOT an artist’s biography), specific examples of an art/design movement that primarily developed in the late 20th century – early 21st century, centered on an analysis of specific examples or an issue you want to explore.
1- create a beginning sentence that identifies the context of the general topic.
2) create a second sentence that clearly defines the question (issue) to be researched.
3) create a third sentence that suggests the possible methods that will be used in your investigation.
4) consider the basis of your possible conclusion.
Topic: Contemporary photography focuses on free expression and interpretation, non-conforming to conventional constraints of technique. See the impact of abstract expressionism and the connections to shunning formalities and inclusion of social issues.

Do you like or dislike what you see?

Perform an Internet search and explore two or more websites featuring painters’ works. (A keyword search using the words visual+arts+painting will result in a multitude of sites.)
Choose TWO PAINTINGS (each from a different artist) that, in your estimation, stand out above the others. Do not use paintings from the text for this assignment! It is highly suggested that you explore museum sites to guarantee the reputability of paintings selected.
In an essay format and in your own words, compare and contrast both paintings in terms of the history, medium, technique, and a number of elements (and/or principles) of design of your choice that you have learned about thus far in this course. For example, what specific colors, shapes, and patterns are used? Make sure that you name and briefly define the elements and/or principles of design.
Next, provide your own objective analysis of whether you believe each painting is skillful or unskillful.
Then explain whether or not each painting appeals to you and why. Do you like or dislike what you see?
Last, attach images of the two painting examples used in your analysis to your electronic transmission. Also include the exact URLs (Uniform Resource Locators)/Web addresses for both works (e.g.: http://www.louvre.fr/llv/musee/visite_virtuelle.jsp?bmLocale=en(opens in a new tab)).
